Visits to your allergist
During your visit to our office, a detailed history focusing on symptoms, specific aggravators, prior and present treatment and an environmental survey of home and work/school exposures will be obtained. A physical examination will then be performed. With this information the allergist will determine and discuss with you what tests will assist in making the diagnoses. When appropriate, allergy skin tests are performed to determine and/or confirm your specific allergies. Special new procedures are available to skin test small children in order to make the experience as comfortable as possible. When indicated, breathing tests are carried out to measure the function of the lungs and to determine if there is any impairment. Other tests such as x-rays may be ordered as well.

The allergist will review with you the results of the evaluation and discuss treatment options. A combination of approaches is usually recommended which include avoidance of irritants and allergens, medications and in selected cases immunotherapy (allergy injections).

An allergist is on call at all times and may be reached by calling (859) 277-9112.
